Dear Segway Polo Family,

In den letzten Jahren hatte ich den Eindruck, dass viele gute Ideen entwickelt wurden um unseren Sport voranzutreiben. Leider hat uns Corona in 2020 ausgebremst.

Sehr positiv sehe ich die Entwicklung der deutschen Segwaypolo Bundesliga. Ein Projekt, dass schon mehrfach angestoßen wurde, erstmals von Olaf Funke, aber in der aktuellen Form einen Spielbetrieb darstellt, der von allen Teams unterstützt wird. Wie in jedem neuen Format, muss auch hier erst der Spagat zwischen Spaß und geregeltem Sportbetrieb gefunden werden. Wir sehen aber die Entwicklung und ich hoffe, die Organisatoren werden für 2021 wieder aktiv. Diese nationale Liga sollte eine Inspiration sein für andere Länder.

I see the development of the German Segway Polo Bundesliga very positively. A project that was initiated a while ago, first by Olaf Funke, and in its current form represents a league that is supported by all teams. As in every new format, the balancing act between fun and competitive sports has to be found. But we're seeing the progress and I hope the organizers will be active again for 2021. This German National League should be an inspiration to other countries.

Jeder Sport lebt von dem Wettkampf und der Gemeinschaft. Gerade die internationale Gemeinschaft ist es, die Segwaypolo so besonders macht. Nicht umsonst sprechen wir von der Segwaypolo Familie. In diesem Zusammenhang möchte ich noch einmal daran erinnern, dass ein Sport nur mit einer gewissen Struktur funktionieren kann. Auch wenn es nur eine Handvoll aktive Teams weltweit gibt, benötigen wir für Turniere Strukturen und ein anerkanntes Regelwerk.
Es ist wichtig, dass alle aktiven und auch inaktiven Teams die ISPA unterstützen und sich auch mit ihren Mitgliedsbeiträgen dazu bekennen, Mitglied in dem Verband zu sein. Die ISPA als Verband stellt die Grundlage für den Zusammenhalt der Teams dar und es zeugt von Respekt dem Sport und allen Mitgliedern gegenüber, Mitglied in diesem Verband zu sein. Ich möchte daher alle Teams bitten, die Mitgliedsbeiträge fristgerecht zu zahlen und nicht nur dann, wenn Turniere anstehen. Unterstützt die ISPA, den Sport und die Gemeinschaft und zeigt so eure Zugehörigkeit.

Every sport lives from competition and the community. It is precisely the international community that makes Segway Polo so special. It's not for nothing that we speak of the Segwaypolo family. In this context I would like to remind you once again that a sport can only work with a certain structure. Even if there are only a handful of active teams worldwide, we need structures and recognized rules for tournaments.
It is important that all active and also inactive teams support the ISPA and commit themselves to being a member of the association with their membership fees. The ISPA as an association represents the basis for the cohesion of the teams and it shows respect for the sport and all ISPA members to be a member of this association. I would therefore like to ask all teams to pay the membership fees on time and not only when tournaments are pending. Support ISPA, the sport and the community and show your support..

Im letzten Jahr hat Alexander uns in Stockholm das Thema e-Polo nähergebracht. Wir als ISPA stehen mit Alexander in regelmäßigem Austausch. Wir sehen die Chance, dass e-polo als Marke bekannter wird und unseren Sport weiter nach vorne bringen kann. Um Segwaypolo / e-polo dauerhaft und langfristig zu etablieren erachten wir einen solchen Schritt für richtig. Auf Dauer kann jedes einzelne Team von einem höheren Bekanntheitsgrad profitieren, insbesondere auch ohne den Markennamen Segway. Wir als ISPA spielen aktuell weiterhin Segwaypolo, aber wir unterstützen e-polo.
Laut Alexander soll aber auch das traditionelle Segwaypolo im Rahmen des e-polo seinen Platz finden. In diesem Zusammenhang verweisen wir darauf, dass es sich bei e-polo um eine eingetragene Marke handelt. Das Verwenden der Bezeichnung e-polo bei Turnieren oder offiziellen Anlässen ist vorher mit Alexander abzusprechen. Im Sinne der community sollten wir offen für Veränderung sein. Daher werden wir als BOD versuchen in den kommenden Wochen mit Alexander Absprachen zur Nutzung des Namens e-polo zu treffen.

Last year Alexander introduced all of us to the topic of e-polo in Stockholm, when he gave his presentation followed by a Q&A session. The ISPA Board of Directors are in regular contact with Alexander. We see the chance that e-polo will become better known as a brand and move our sport forward. In order to establish Segwaypolo / e-polo permanently and in the long term, we consider such a step to be the right one. In the long run, every single team can benefit from a higher level of awareness, especially without the Segway brand name. At ISPA, we are currently still playing Segway Polo, but we are supporting e-polo.
According to Alexander, the traditional Segway Polo will have its place within the framework of e-polo. In this context, we would like to point out that e-polo is a registered trademark. The use of the term e-polo at tournaments or official occasions must be discussed with Alexander in advance. In the interests of the community, we should be open to change. Therefore we as the ISPA Board of Directors will try to make arrangements with Alexander about the use of the name e-polo in the coming weeks.

Bald stehen wieder Neuwahlen im BOD an. Ende 2020 läuft meine Zeit und die von Sascha Kratz ab. Wir würden uns freuen, wenn neue Mitglieder sich engagieren möchten und sich zur Wahl stellen würden. Bitte werdet Teil des BOD und lasst uns unseren Sport gemeinsam weiterbringen.

Soon there will be new elections for some positions on the Board of Directors. At the end of 2020 my term and that of Sascha Kratz will run out. We would be pleased if new members would like to get involved and stand for election. Please become part of the ISPA Board of Directors and let's advance our sport together.

In der Fernsehsendung ZDF-Fernsehgarten wurde heute Segwaypolo / e-polo® (www.e-polo.de) gespielt.
Ein paar Spieler von den Clubs Funky-Move Turtles / 1st SegwayPolo Club Germany sowie Balver Mammuts Segwaypolo zeigten im Spiel 3 gegen 3 die Faszination dieses Sports und Olaf Funke wurde von der Moderatorin Andrea Kiewel interviewt.
